Syngonium podophyllum Bronze Plant – XL

The Syngonium podophyllum Bronze is a people’s choice when it comes to low maintenance indoor houseplants that do not need much water or light to do well. It has deep bronze arrowhead-shaped leaves that trail making it perfect for hanging baskets.

Sometimes called, Arrowhead plant, Arrowhead vine, Arrowhead philodendron, Goosefoot, African evergreen or American evergreen. This variety, Maria or as we call it Bronze have deep bronze toned arrowhead-shaped leaves, with red veins. Even though the Bronze is hardy and easy to grow, they prefer a semi-shaded position with indirect sunlight. Keep the watering consistent but do allow the top layer of soil to start to dry between waterings. As the Bronze likes humidity, its perfect for indoors and works well in pots, grown-up totem poles or cascading down in a hanging basket. Well-draining and fertile soil or a peat-based potting mix with a pH between 5.5 to 6.5 is ideal for this plant. Further, it prefers indirect light or partial shade. Place the plant near a window behind a sheer curtain for best growth. Water the plant only when the top layer of the soil becomes dry. Do not overwater the plant as that can cause root rot. Use a pot with drainage holes to let the excess water seep out. Additionally, it prefers a humid environment. Therefore, place it on a pebble tray or mist it with water regularly. It doesn’t require much fertilization. However, you can feed it with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer once a month during spring and summer. Also, during this season, you can prune the plant to maintain its size and shape or to get a bushier growth. You need to repot this plant once every two years when it becomes pot-bound. You can either split it and use the same pot with a fresh potting mix, or you can use a slightly bigger pot for repotting the whole plant.
